Stressful events can have a negative impact on our mental health. Learn how to avoid potential problems by staying aware of common stressors.

Stressful events in our lives can have a negative impact on our mental health. 大学生, 尤其是成人学习者, may face extreme academic 和 financial pressures that result from balancing school with work 和 daily life. Although not everyone experiences problems with mental health during their years in college, students can avoid potential problems down the road by staying aware of common stressors 和 being proactive by using the following tips:

1. 记住岩石

管理学业压力不是一件容易的事, especially when you’re balancing school with the dem和s of your job 和/or your family. Imagine that your life is a jar filled with a combination of rocks, pebbles 和 s和. The empty jar represents all of your free time — the rocks, pebbles 和 s和 are the activities. 当石头先放进罐子里的时候, 沙子和鹅卵石很容易填满中间的空隙. But, when we fill the jar with s和 和 pebbles first, there isn’t enough room for all the rocks.
